BRES ‘May Movers’ club gaining momentum
Every Tuesday and Thursday after school during the month of May, the "May Movers" hit the trail behind the elementary school. This group of runners, composed of students in grades 1-4, runs over a mile and then plays structured games such as Sharks and Minnows, What Time Is It, Mr. Fox, and Red Light, Green Light. The club was started last year as an after-school activity to get kids outside and active. Since its inception, the group has doubled in size, now boasting 53 participants.
On June 2, family and friends gathered to cheer on our second annual Fun Run.
In the girls' category, Rylie Leighton took 3rd place with a time of 10:30.6, Zoey Gray secured 2nd place with a time of 10:28.7, and Olivia Powell finished in 1st place with a time of 10:26.1.
For the boys, Brennan James placed 3rd at 8:28.2, Zack Hughes 2nd at 8:18.2, and Leo Barter 1st at 7:57.1.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our teacher volunteers Jordan Delano, Magill Smith, and Ana Patroulis, as well as our parent volunteers Lauren Albaum, Lisa Leighton, Heather and Ryan Casey. On top of that, our fun run would not have happened without the guidance and help of Nick Scott and his high school track and field athletes, high school athletic director Allan Crocker, and our maintenance staff.
A final huge thanks to the enthusiastic athletes and encouraging parents. We could not run this program without your support! See you next May!
